We are pleased to announce the inaugural ComSciCon-Pacific Northwest, which will take place on March 24 and 25, 2017 at Google Seattle. This unique professional development experience will provide STEM graduate students with a fantastic opportunity to meet leaders in the communication of research from across the region, learn from a remarkable group of invited experts, and produce an original work communicating scholarly research to a new audience.
The two-day event will include panels on Public Engagement and Education, Creative Media in Science Communication, and Communicating Science in Your Career. In addition to panels, “pop talks” on student research, and a Write-a-thon, ComSciCon-PNW will feature an “Unconference” session. This participant-driven afternoon will allow panelists and attendees to choose topics for further discussion and work together to lead those discussions.
We encourage STEM graduate students from across the Pacific Northwest to apply. ComSciCon-PNW is free of charge to accepted applicants, and the organizing committee will help pair visitors with local attendees who are willing overnight hosts. We are committed to making ComSciCon-PNW an inclusive and welcoming event. Apply here by December 9!
